Chigiri-e (ちぎり絵) is an ancientJapanese art form dating back to the Heian period of 794 til 1185. The primary technique uses coloured handmade paper that is torn to create images resembling a painting. The many layers of intricately pasted thin paper create a depth to the work that draws the viewer into the work.
This work that I have created is entirely from torn pieces of handmade Japanese paper.
